Nearly six decades of local orchid community.
Founded in 1967, the Martin County Orchid Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to promote, carry on and aid in the development, improvement and preservation of orchids through cultivation, hybridization, conservation, education and public outreach.
- 1967: The Martin County Orchid Society is established on Florida's Treasure Coast to promote orchid appreciation, cultivation and preservation.
- The society's stated purpose includes education, exhibitions, lectures, publications and scientific research connected to orchid growing and preservation.
- Educational scholarships are awarded each year to Martin County high school seniors.
- More than 500 orchids have been placed in Martin County through restoration and stewardship work.
